Scottsdale, AZ—Starting next month, Jazzy Yogurt, My FitFoods and A Cool Breeze, a lifestyle retail concept, will join The SHOPS Gainey Village’s popular collection of shops, services and dining on the Southwest corner of Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch Roads.

October 2011—Jazzy Yogurt 

Jazzy Yogurt will serve 16 refreshing frozen yogurt flavors and more than 70 toppings in a “comfortable setting that feels like a living room”, according to Steve Darrow, managing partner. The interior will feature fruity artwork, blended with a jazz music theme. “Our child-friendly activity area will make Jazzy Yogurt a fun outing for the entire family,” he said.  Jazzy Yogurt will be located near the central fountain in the main walkway at The SHOPS Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting with Grand Opening events the second week in October. October 2011—A Cool Breeze

A Cool Breeze lifestyle store will feature handcrafted designer clothing for men, women and children, handbags, jewelry, furniture and tableware.  Relocating from a prestigious Michigan Avenue address in Chicago, owners Jerry and Judy Adams were drawn to The SHOPS ambience and architecture. November 2011—My Fit Foods

My Fit Foods, a take-home concept offering fresh, healthy, pre-portioned meals and snacks to go is opening its first Arizona location at The SHOPS Gainey Village. The Houston-based company with over 33 locations in Texas is owned by personal trainer and certified nutritionist, Mario Mendias. My Fit Foods is on a mission to get people healthy, make people aware, and get their lives back,” he said.

To-go entrées like lean lemon turkey, Denyse's Killuh Chili, and a light mac and cheese called My Fit Mac range from around $6.75 to $10.25; however, they also offer a three week package called the My Fit Foods 21-day Challenge.  "The average client loses 6 to 12 pounds, and reports higher levels of energy after as little as three days on the program,” Mendias said. Far East Meets Southwest: SOI4 Bangkok Eatery Now Open at The SHOPS Gainey Village

 The SHOPS Gainey Village has added another shining star to its stellar collection of dining destinations! Introducing SOI4 (pronounced Soy-four) Bangkok Eatery for true Thai-food lovers. In Thailand, a soi is a “lane” or “small side street” on the thriving dining scene in modern Bangkok. The number 4 represents the four Sirimongkolvit siblings and partners, whose Thai culinary legacy has finally found its way to the Valley. The Siri Group’s dining dynasty in the Bay Area includes Sweet Basil Thai in Berkeley, Basil Canteen in San Francisco and SOI4 in Oakland.

“When Thai food is properly prepared, the combination of spices excites one's taste buds, while allowing the natural flavor of each ingredient to shine through in each and every bite,” managing partner Dee Sirimongkolvit-Buizer explains.

For starters, she recommends sautéed turnip cake (you’ll never crave another French fry) and artfully arranged fresh cut mustard leaves wrapped with roasted coconut, prawns, pomelo, herbs and sweet palm. SOI4’s authentic and robust menu is rounded out with chicken, seafood and prawn skewers, and a profusion of salads, rice and noodle entrées.   Try the somtum salad for a heavenly mixture of green papaya, string beans, cherry tomatoes and nuts, tossed in sweet garlic lime dressing. Entrees run the gamut from spicy wide rice noodles and skirt steak stir-fried with basil, garlic and chili to Thai pineapple fried rice with prawns and cashew nuts, all paired with a carefully considered collection of fine wines. ChezVous Crepes and Gelato opens in Scottsdale

What would it take to convince a couple to quit executive-level careers, sell a painstakingly remodeled home, uproot their family and move from Paris to serve fast food in a shopping center in Scottsdale?

Sunshine, apparently.

ChezVous Crepes and Gelato opened this week in the Shops at Gainey Village, offering savory and sweet paper-thin pancakes, salads, sandwiches, desserts, omelets and croissants.

The French-born Horvaths met as children. Richard worked in financing for 25 years and Isabella in publishing. The couple fell in love with Scottsdale while vacationing here last spring.

"When we went home, we couldn't stop thinking about Scottsdale and how nice it would be to live here with the sun shining every morning - something you don't see in Paris," Isabella said.

Anchoring the menu are crepes, stuffed with a variety of savory ingredients like ham, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, tomato coulis and egg or smoked salmon, sour cream, capers and lemon.

Sweet selections include a Caribbean of shredded coconut, dark chocolate and strawberry or banana or homemade plain yogurt with cinnamon. An a la mode scoop of gelato is optional.

In the salad area, the French Riviera tosses rice, tomatoes, tuna, black olive and egg, while a Country tumbles sautéed potatoes, prosciutto, Comte cheese and greens cover classics like the Croque Monsieur or Madame.

At dessert, look for a ChezVous signature Floating Island, made with dollops of meringue bobbing in a sea of crème anglaise and caramel.

Once the liquor license goes through, a variety of French wines will join the lineup. And that piano in the corner? Richard is an accomplished pianist.

THE KITCHEN Market Café and Wine Bar by Good Eats Grocer will serve a wide variety of freshly prepared foods featuring natural, organic and locally grown ingredients.

Centered around an open kitchen bistro with wood burning pizza oven, The Kitchen will offer dine-in signature entrees, sandwiches and salads, an artisan bakery, charcuterie, fromagerie, espresso bar, and wine shop paired with a food market carrying a broad selection of quality ingredients for cooking at home.

For families that don't have time to prepare a healthy, chef-inspired meal, The Kitchen will carry an abundance of freshly-prepared ready-to-go entrees and side dishes that can be conveniently selected and served at home without the need to call ahead.

The Kitchen was founded by seasoned partners Michael Teel and Michael Ashker, who, along with their roster of associates have deep expertise in the art of building companies and partnering with fellow entrepreneurs in the pursuit of achieving great things.

Both McMullen and France are graduates of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. McMullen worked under renowned chefs Emeril Legasse, in New Orleans and Michael Mina in San Francisco. France's background with Whole Foods Markets helped fuel his enthusiasm for developing recipes using primarily natural and organic foods, which he continued to nurture as a Chef in Northern California. Solano was corporate Pastry Chef and Trainer for Maggiano's 54 restaurants throughout the U.S., personally opening 9 locations and acting as Culinary Assistant in the corporate kitchen for recipe development.

Shortly after opening, The Kitchen will launch a full range of catering services including breakfast buffets, boxed lunches, company dinners and holiday receptions.
