The Downside Risk Joins Award-Winning Retail and Dining Destinations at The SHOPS Gainey Village

Scottsdale, AZ—The SHOPS Gainey Village recently added The Downside Risk to its popular lineup of shops, eateries and services. A sentimental favorite of Valley restaurant and bar patrons, The Downside Risk originally put down roots in downtown Scottsdale from 1986 to 2003, and has been revived and updated in its new Scottsdale location under the direction of the original proprietor, Randy Frederick, a 40-year veteran of the restaurant and bar industry.

The grand opening celebration took place June 14, 2012, which coincided with their original founding date back in 1986. “We had a line at the door waiting to get in every Thursday and Friday night for 15 years straight. Now that our new location is closer to our most avid patrons, we plan to recapture that magic,” Frederick said. 

In addition to an extensive selection of refreshing libations, The Downside Risk menu features crowd pleasers like tomatillo toast, smoked brisket, pulled pork, grilled salmon, flatbreads, wraps, burgers, steaks, homemade soups and salads. Other features include live entertainment, private dining for groups up to 75 people, the D Club, a members-only breakfast club from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday-Friday with a full breakfast buffet, and an expansive patio with three fireplaces, misters, shade canopies and lush landscaping.

Mariée Bridal Expands its Boutique

Milk And Hunny Launches Clothing Line & Storybook At Urban Kidz

Looking for a new bedtime tale or a funky new outfit for your little girl? At Urban Kidz on May 16th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can get both! Jena Scaccetti, a former luxury shoe designer, will be stopping by the SHOPS at Gainey Village to launch her children’s storybook and apparel line, Milk and Hunny. Scaccetti will be signing copies, and the Milk and Hunny gang will be there, too, for kids to meet.
Scaccetti’s Milk and Hunny apparel feature “Cute Faces” and has already garnered A-list fans, including actress Amanda Seyfried, model Kimora Lee Simmons, James and Kimberly Van Der Beek and more.

Now Open: Cask 63 American Eatery & Wine Bar

This comfortably contemporary eatery opened in the former Bloom space in January 2012, offering eclectic American cuisine and a distinctive wine menu. Cask 63 is the collaborative effort of two renowned Valley restaurateurs, Jerry Tingle and Chef Brian Fierstein. According to Tingle, “It takes 31½ gallons of wine to fill a cask. So we multiplied that number by two – a toast to us, two business partners who share the same vision.
